Dear Holly Polly 2023 Exchange Creator,
Thank you so much for being part of this exchange! I’m looking forward to seeing what you create. Hopefully some of this will spark your creativity and you will have fun in the writing. Mix and match any of the likes you want, and my only hard lines are the DNWs. Have fun! . . . I’m so looking forward to what you come up with!

Extra likes – Strong alpha men that are wrapped around the fingers of the women they love. Protective men and women with sass. Dark, edgy characters who use that to protect the innocent and light. And I’m into women who are kickass – especially if it’s NOT in the physical sense. Give me the geniuses, the wise women, the counselors, or the homemakers who know it is the heart of the house that pulls the strings.
I have a MAJOR competence kink.
Give me all the fantasy, supernatural, dark, urban magic stuff you’ve ever wanted to write! Or a Mafia AU because that’s always fun.
I’m not here for explicit sex, but for the character connections and relationships.
You don’t have to include this, but if it is up your alley, I really like multiple levels of relationships. While I don’t like breakup/cheating fics, I enjoy seeing various levels of relationships. So . . . characters A & B are in a strong romantic relationship, but when character B has a particularly tough day, they go cuddle with character C or characters A, B, & C are a closed triad, but character A has a strong platonic relationship with character D. Outsiders are sure they’re dating or having sex, but they’re not – and the other members in the romantic relationship don’t have any jealousy. (And yes, they may even share a bed, but it’s purely for sleep, cuddling, comfort – not sex.) I enjoy romance, but I also truly enjoy explorations of all levels of love – romantic, platonic, familial, etc.
FANDOM SPECIFICS:
Marvel of All Types:
Clint Barton is my number one favorite! With Darcy Lewis not far behind him. Also, I’m a big, big fan of the 2012 vibe after Avengers came out before we all went down the Ultron/Civil War/Infinity War/Endgame rabbit hole. Though I do enjoy Wanda as a character. Now, with that out of the way, let me get into the ships:
Clint/Laura/Kate – Kate is a new favorite of mine, and I love the idea of her finding a new family with the Bartons. She’s not that much older than the kids, but then again . . . she’s lived through things they haven’t. One idea I love is Eleanor Bishop getting blipped and Kate having to figure out how to run everything for those five years, especially given the family ties to Kingpin. If she didn’t pay off the debt, what did he do?? (I wrote a story where he sold her off to the highest bidder . . .) But what if Clint found her during that time? Or is it something softer? Go crazy with the creativity!
Clint/Kate/Natasha – Same notes apply as above, though clearly without the kids. Again, how does this work? This optimistic hero with the two long-term cynical spies . . .
Clint/Darcy/Natasha or Bucky/Clint/Darcy/Natasha or Bucky/Clint/Darcy – Another optimistic person caught up in a crew of spies and assassins. I love Doctor Darcy, but even more – I love Darcy of 2012, the scientist/cat-herder assistant who balances out their darkness with her fun, zany sunshine. Have fun!!
Darcy/Jack/Brock – One of my guilty pleasures! Though I prefer the men to be SHEILD pretending to be HYDRA pretending to be SHIELD. Triple agents for the win. They’d be suspicious and standoffish as hell after all that, but what do they do with a woman like Darcy who won’t be run off??
Bucky/Clint/Natasha – This one goes in and out of favor depending on my mood, but I do enjoy these three characters and how their strengths and weaknesses can balance each other out.
Bucky/Maria/Steve – And this one I picked just because I’m amused at the idea of Maria dealing with these two. Or maybe it’s the thought of these two Brooklyn boys getting her out of her ‘Assistant Director of SHIELD’ mindset.
Arrow:
I adore Felicity. Beyond that, I would have loved to have seen more interaction between Felicity, Oliver, and Tommy. I think once Tommy got his mind wrapped around the idea, he would have been a great friend and asset to Oliver. Plus, he’d definitely have been on Felicity’s side regarding some of Oliver’s more reckless plans/ideas. The first couple of seasons before everything got a little crazy were my favorite vibes, though I did love some of the later storylines.
Teen Wolf:
Don’t bother with the movie. Haven’t watched it – don’t acknowledge it.
Chris/Melissa/Peter – I loved the way Chris and Melissa got together by the end of the series, and Peter has always been a favorite. I think these three would be an interesting balance, and they’re all crazy protective once their instincts are up.
Allison/Derek/Lydia – Three of my favorite characters across the board. I love Allison’s determination to do what’s right, Derek’s devotion even when annoyed, and Lydia’s sarcastic but loving brilliance.
Derek/Lydia/Stiles – Again, three favorites! Same notes above apply plus Stiles’ unexpected genius and random trivia!
Ancient Greece:
Ares/Aphrodite/Hephaestus – I picked these three because I think they balance each other well. For most of the Greek myths, I enjoyed pairs, but these three I can see working. War isn’t always bloodthirsty, Love is rarely easy, and Craft is often a blend of both.
Thank you so much! Have fun!
